Popular Holiday

Lontong

Lebaran is a popular holiday in my country. We only have 2 days off, but usually people who are muslims, take annual leave on this Eid Al-Fitri. Lebaran or Eid Al-Fitri is celebration of the ending fasting month, Ramadan. People spend their holidays going home to parents’ or families’ home at the villages they come from; our term for this is ‘mudik’. Usually we visit and forgive each other by visiting all our families and neighbours. Every day of the holiday is full of visiting, forgiveness and food, because every home serves lots of food. There are traditional cakes, snacks, crackers and drinks and meals, especially lontong (food consisting of rice steamed in banan leaf). There is unwritten rule that we have to eat or drink how ever very little we drink or eat what they serve. All people, young and old, are happy to meet and gather old friends, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, grandchildren and they wear their newest clothes.

My Favorite Meal

Nasi Goreng

My writing are :

Fried rice is my favourite meal. How ever I am full even hungry if there is served this meal hm…. I will not ignore it. To make it we need rice of course, garlic, salt, chilli and cooking oil. Very simple to prepare the meal. Slice the garlic and chilli then fry it in a spoon of hot cooking oil until rise aromatic in frying pan. Add salt then poure the rice, mix until the rice and the ingridients are mixed and the fried rice become hot. I prefer only garlich to other inredients such as onion, ginger, turmeric, pepper. And we can add vegetables or fried fish or cooked meat and mix it with ingredients in frying plate, before add the rice. More interesting if we serve at the plate by adding a fried of egg, some slices of cucumber and tomatto.

My friend gave a comment and my sentences become :

At the Park

Puputan is the name of the town square in Denpasar, it’s a park with many big trees around it. At one side , there is a big bird cage where many types of birds live, fly, and play in it ; and on the other side there is chessboard with checkers as big as a man. For three months, while I was living near the park, I used to play sports on Sunday morning, and sometimes I ended my activity by eating whatever food was sold there for breakfast. I often watched the Balinese dancing on Saturday afternoon, its dance is so dynamic, fast and attractive, different from Javanese dance, which is done with slow and pliant movements. Sometimes my friends and I sit under the tree to enjoy the cool air while drinking juice or iced tea, and sometimes we sit on the grass to chat or discuss things.
